HI.
I'm the manager of a coffee shop. I'm at work between 6am and 8am six days a week.
I am very tired.
I'm still enjoying the job. I work with cool people, my boss is easy going, and I'm not bad at what I'm doing.
We have a regular who comes in here at least twice a week and I can not, for the life of me, figure out why. Not because this place is awful, it isn't, but because this guy HATES it. And us. Every time he's in here he complains about the service, the quality, and the employees. Yet he CONTINUES to come back when there are a ton of other cafes in the immediate area. It reminds me of this QC strip. We give him something to be mad about for the rest of the day, that must be why he comes back. But I HATE when he's here. He makes me all tense and I have to stop my self from yelling at him. Not fun.
Other than that, nothing is going on. I'm at the cafe right now helping our new employee close up shop, and then I'm going home, going to sleep, and waking up at 4:30am to start all over again.

I MISS YOU! I'm glad you like your job. It sucks that there always has to be "that guy" no matter where you go. Maybe his baseless complaints could be topics for future blog posts...'cause, you know, I MISS YOU and would like to see more updates from you!
Kill the fucker with kindness and then when he's lulled into a state of complacency, actually kill him.
He's just a cranky old man. People find faults in everything, he's just upfront about it. He probably just needs a friend.
He probably has a job where everybody yells at HIM all day, so he needs a place to go to yell at somebody else. That said, kill the mother. Or, you know, just turn to him and, with a great big grin, say: "It's not OUR fault your life sucks." That should achieve something...although I'm not quite sure what.

John never gets anything, so has nothing to complain about! No, a guy who comes in during the morning shift - usually with his wife and kids. They are all very pleasant. He hates us.
From the guy that has managed retail most his life.
I have regulars that are miserable. Kill with kindness. If that doesn't work ask him why hes there if he seems to hate it? The honest question tends to embarras people.
