Stuff, Things, Etc

Well , well, well. I have had a busy couple of days. For starters - I started classes again! Hooray!

I'm taking Asian American Literature and Pop Culture, and Latino Communities in the U.S. Thrilling, I know. I've only had two classes so far and am already slightly behind on my reading. Awesome! (I am very happy that I decided to take two classes rather than three this semester because I would lose my mind completely.)

In other news the Tigerlily had her Bachelorette Party this weekend and it was lovely lovely lovely. And a little nuts. And awesome. I danced like a maniac and maybe drank my weight in champagne. Like you do. I also stayed up until eight 'o' clock in the morning again, but unlike last time it didn't rain and I got to sleep outside. It was all I had wanted all summer and I finally got to do it after watching an amazing, though bleary, sunrise on the Tigerlily's deck. Then...at NOON, the Tigerlily woke me up and announced that we were going for brunch and pedicures. I tend to be relatively anti-pedicure as I don't like people touching my feet, but I was still drunk when I woke up and it seemed like a lovely idea. So we brunched, and pedicured, and ate food with Carolina and her boyfriend, and Shai came over. Excellent.

In other other news - a while back, when I was posting about my roommates regularly, a couple of people mentioned that I was a little mean about them in the blog. To which I responded, "Meh, they don't read it. No big deal!" Then the other day I realised that one of them just started to read it and now I feel like a bit of an ass. So - my darling Michael - I'm sorry and I love you and I will now only post nice things about you unless you do something really awful like set the house on fire. Kay? Kay!

Yesterday was supposed to be my big day of getting books and getting ready for my first real day of school. But I woke up as Seth was walking into my room to surprise me and the day kind of got away from me what with hanging out and breakfast burritos. It happens sometimes. The not finishing all my reading didn't even end up being an issue, so my day of well earned leisure was totally okay.

Sometimes a girl just needs a day off. ♦DiggIt!Add to del.icio.usAdd to Technorati Faves

Things I want to blog about

So I've been meaning to blog about the following things:
  • Why you should never get into a bed with me. (I kick, talk, cuddle violently, attempt to kill, etc.) There are stories.
  • How much I hate clogs. (again)
  • My plans for summer picnics
  • My plans for summer in general
  • Food
But the thing is...with the breakup and the end of the semester and everything else, it's been really hard to get going on writing about the things I want to write about. Which sucks. And while 20 Questions is entertaining, it's not really writing.

My last class is on Tuesday, and I have to spend tomorrow continuing a paper on Chaucer that I started months ago. Then I have ten days to read over Paradise Lost, various works of poetry, and Frankenstein. (Actually, I'm almost done with Frankenstein. About six pages to go.) Then I have my final and I am free for 2 glorious months. Wee!

Actually, speaking of Frankenstein: This is the first time I've ever read it and it is surprising in many ways. First of all, the Monster I think of is not at all the Monster in the book. When I think of Frankenstein's monster I think of a bumbling, zombie-like creature who shouts things like, "FIRE BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!!!" The monster, is, in fact, very agile and well spoken. What became "FIRE BAAAAAAAAAD!!!" started out as "In my joy I thrust my hand into the live embers, but quickly drew it out again with a cry of pain."

Not quite the same thing.

There are also other discrepancies between the story I knew of growing up and what Mary Shelley actually wrote. There is no Igor. Igor does not exist. At all. Not even a little bit.

Oh and also? The Monster is yellow. Not green.

So yeah, my mind? She is blown. ♦DiggIt!Add to del.icio.usAdd to Technorati Faves

Like, I have, like, a Salad Spinner!

So remember how I got a Salad Spinner for Christmas? I would just like to reiterate that it is one of the most magical inventions ever. What can I say? I love dry, unsmushed lettuce. Also - because I am I dumb - the Salad Spinner only just made it back to my apartment. Christmas was a while ago. I am really lazy.

But it's here now! And I love it! And my lettuce is dry! And yay!

Moving on...

Long long ago, when I was going to school in Boston, I took an amazing class on the Sociology of Deviance. My professor was spectacular, the material was spectacular, and most of the students in the class were really bright and had intelligent things to say. Most. There was this one guy (I forget his name but remember exactly what he looked like. He had this really curly blonde mop of hair and I am almost positive that he wore clogs. CLOGS!) who insisted on speaking at least once during every class period, which is normally dandy, but he was one of those people who said "like" every. other. freaking. word. ('It's like, like, when you, like, go to a place and like, there is, like, stuff there and like..." STAB STAB STAB) It got to the point where I would look around during one of his little rants and see that not only I, but numerous other people in the class, were making tally-marks in their notebooks to count just how many times he said it. I wanted to kick him.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, my current class has one of these as well. She is a very pretty girl, but she talks in class CONSTANTLY and today I started my tally. She spoke three times during class today. I zoned out during the first speech, but during the second she said "like" eighteen times, and during the third fifteen times.

Fucking A, people. Learn how to speak!

On top of everything else, in the first week of class I singled myself out as a talkative person in class and now it seems that my professor intentionally ignores me. Man is that fun. Especially when we are supposed to be talking about literature from the Middle Ages and he wants to talk about the Holocaust. Can you blame a girl for wanting to get back to the material we are studying?

Grumble grumble grumble. ♦DiggIt!Add to del.icio.usAdd to Technorati Faves

None of these things are anything like the other

I recently discovered that someone I really detested when I was approximately nine years old has grown up to become a hideous huge troll person. And what did this do to me? Did I feel pity and say, "Aww, that is really too bad, I bet they grew up to be a really good person!" No. Not even a little bit. When I found this out I LAUGHED. Maniacally. Like a CRAZY person. I was thrilled because this person one upped me in a talent show. When I was nine. Hello and welcome to the crazy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Work has become really busy because January started and suddenly all of our clients who had been completely MIA since the beginning of December suddenly went, "Oh shit! I have a job!" all at once. So that's fun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I paid for school today! I am all paid off for the semester! I have a new sticker on my ID that says "Spring 08"! It lets me get into the library! Which I never go to! It is green! Yay! (I am going to be in school for the rest of my life, this happy thing will not last, just let me go with it, k?) Green! Stickers! Wee!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In case you were all wondering about my appetite (which I know you all were, you don't have to lie), it's been really freaking wonky recently. So all I've eaten today is half a sandwich, an apple, and three donut holes. And all I want to eat in the world is mac and cheese from Pies-n-Thighs because I just found out that they are closing their doors for good tomorrow. If they actually do reopen in the summer we should all go and have a party because it is greasy heaven and also there is beer. Mmmm...Beer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ummmmmmmm....I know there was something else, but now I can't remember it. I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts? Deedledee? No. That wasn't it.

Ah well.

Update: I figured out something else to write:
I just found two grey hairs. I am twenty three fucking years old. This is NOT okay.

It just took me waaaaaaaay too long to type "school"

Apparently I have forgotten how to spell "school." This is not a good sign.

I have my last final tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it.

Wish me luck!

Shakespearean luck!

I needs it. ♦DiggIt!Add to del.icio.usAdd to Technorati Faves
